Rotary Club of Fort Worth South Community Grant Guidelines 2025-2026
Focus: Helping Children and Youth Who Struggle to Read

Recognizing that supplemental support is needed in our community for many children and youth to overcome reading barriers, The Rotary Club of Fort Worth South welcomes grant proposals from any community-based non-profit organization serving Tarrant County that provides reading intervention for school-age children (pre-K through high school). We are seeking projects or programs that help individual school-age children learn to read. Applicants must have 501(c)(3) status. Applicants may apply for a one-time grant of up to $4,000. The Rotary Club of Fort Worth South may choose to award all or any part of a grant request, depending on funds available and the decision of the Foundation Committee and the Board of Directors.

Spreading strength one lipstick at a time.

At the September 10th meeting, members prepared Brave Beauty Boxes for Domestic Violence Shelters. The boxes were lovingly filled with makeup essentials for the women being sheltered. The gesture is a reminder that they are seen, valued, and incredibly strong.

Members Judy & Jerry earned recognition as Paul Harris Fellows.

Judy earned her Paul Harris +3, and Jerry earned his Paul Harris Fellow
for their generous support of the Rotary Foundation

The Rotary Foundation helps to fund life-changing projects like eradicating polio, providing clean water, and supporting education worldwide. Plus, supporting our local community projects in Fort Worth.

Firefighter of the Year: Engineer Brad Adamcik | Engine 22

On August 10th, 2024, the Fort Worth Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 4200 block of Eastland Avenue with a reported victim trapped inside. Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy fire and thick black smoke. Bystanders confirmed that there was an elderly and disabled woman in the bedroom of her home and could not get out. Firefighters from Engine 22 were familiar with the layout of the home and immediately made the way to the bedroom window. Engineer Adamcik climbed through the window and located the woman in the dense, dark smoke.

Talented students from Paschal High School for participating in our annual Rotary 4-Way Test Speech Contest!

Thank you to the talented students from Paschal High School for participating in our annual Rotary 4-Way Test Speech Contest. Each student spoke about how the questions guide their personal and professional decisions.

Congratulations to our winner Marva.

Welcome Blake Cabano (center), shown here with Club President, Mike Peck (left) and membership chairperson Monique Cabano (right).

Blake Cabano joined Rotary at our November 12th meeting, making Rotary a family affair. Mike's spouse, Monique Cabano, is our club membership chair. Mike works as an accountant for the City of Fort Worth.
Pat Peters, District Governor for Rotary District 5790 visited our November 14th meeting.

Every year the sitting district governor for each of Rotary Internationals districts world wide visits the clubs in their district. At our most recent meeting, we hosted DG Pat Peters who spoke about happenings both International and on our district and its 68 clubs.

This years theme is Supporting Mental...Rotary and its members doing what it can to support those suffering from this disease. As well as working with agencies specializing in mental health.

At the Tuesday Jan 10th meeting, members of the Rotary Club of Fort Worth South enjoyed a lunch and lesson from our own John Pardue and Robert Holman presented who presented economical facts from 2022.

The informative session also included what might be happening in 2023. They included interest rates, inflation, bonds, good investments and not so good investments. Questions were asked and thoughtful answers were given. Thank you to you both for sharing your insights

Lydia Guajardo Rickard, Executive Director Camp Bowie District.  Speaking to a Full House at a joint Rotary meeting of the Rotary Club of Fort Worth South and the Rotary Club of Western Fort Worth.

The November 8th meeting was a historic occasion. This joint meeting between these two clubs was a first. Speaking to an audience made up of Rotarians from two different clubs, the Executive Director of the Camp Bowie district shared some great ideas for the future of Camp Bowie District. Every chair in the room was filled at the Ridglea Country Club where the event was held.

Sometimes the best laid plans of our bi-weekly meetings go arigh. We had planned District Governor Dan Steele as our guest speaker for our September 27th meeting. Unfortunately,  DG Dan is sidelined due back surgery. Area Governor Bud Walker stepped in to give a wonderful presentation.

Introduced by Immediate Past President Theresa Hocker, Bud, to quote member Ellen Kurtzman, provided a "fine speech where we are learning much about ways to improve the club".

There may be some irony in this photo of Chris Cobler in front of the Rotary Four Way Test banner. He is a well respected journalist that exudes the tenants of our Four Way Test of the things we say and do.

Speaking at our September 13th meeting, the Publisher and Editor of the Fort Worth Report provided a frank journalistic assessment of public issues related to Fort Worth and Tarrant county.

Congratulations to our hometown heroes honored at this week's First Responder Awards Luncheon.
